Welcome to Is This QR Safe™. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the App. By using the App, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Account Required

Scanning QR codes through Is This QR Safe requires an account. You must sign in before submitting any QR code for analysis. Anonymous or public scanning is not offered.

Use of Services

The App allows authenticated users to scan or upload QR codes to extract and analyze the information contained within. The URLs extracted from the QR codes are submitted to third-party scanning engines, including VirusTotal, for further analysis.

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring that the QR codes you upload do not contain any sensitive, illegal, or harmful content. You agree not to misuse the services, including but not limited to attempting to gain unauthorized access to the systems, or spreading malware.

Data Collection and Storage

When you create an account, we collect your email address and your first and last name through our identity provider, Clerk, so we can authenticate you, associate scans with your account, and contact you about your account if needed.

While using the services, additional data is collected, including your IP address, browser details, location (if available), and the information extracted from the QR codes. This data is used solely to provide and improve the services. The images of QR codes you upload are not stored, and any collected information is not disclosed or sold to third parties.

Third-Party Services

The website interacts with third-party services, such as VirusTotal, to analyze the URLs extracted from QR codes. By using the services, you agree to the terms and conditions of these third-party providers.

The App uses Fathom Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service, to understand how this App is used. Fathom Analytics does not use cookies, does not track personal data, and is fully GDPR compliant. For more information, see Fathom Analytics' Privacy Policy.

Limitation of Liability

Is This QR Safe is not responsible for any damages resulting from your use of the services, including but not limited to any loss of data, damage to your computer systems, or harm resulting from accessing sites through analyzed QR codes.

Modifications

Is This QR Safe reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the services constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Termination

Is This QR Safe reserves the right to terminate or suspend your access to the services at any time, without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the laws of the United States of America. Any legal actions arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state and federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, USA.
